rem ansichtThe high-resolution scanning electron microscope has a wide magnification range for observations from anywhere between an overall view similar to that by the naked eye to nano-structures at very high magnification up to 300,000-fold. The lowest magnification provides a more than 25 mm-wide overview to localise an area of interest for closer inspection.  The magnification can be continuously changed without change of focus, so that it is easy to find areas of interest at high magnification.


 

rem ansicht edvWith a high resolution of 3.0 nm at 30 kV, the Scanning Electron Microscope delivers an amazingly clear image of the finest structures. In addition to routine imaging at several hundreds of times greater resolution than the optical microscope, and with a focal depth several tens of times greater than the optical microscope, the SEM allows for detailed measurements, including 3-D measurement of stereo images. Dual live-image display of the secondary electron image and a backscattered composition image allow the user to contrast and compare specific details.

The large sample chamber allows observations of samples with a diameter up to 150 mm. Objects can be observed in different positions using the eucentric goniometer. The selectable Low-Vacuum mode allows the observation of specimens that cannot be viewed at high vacuum due to high water content or because they have a non-conductive surface.

 

ZirkonThe JSM – 6510LV is not only useful for biological, but also for geological research. The structure of minerals can be analysed by means of a back-scattered electron detector and cathode luminescence. Furthermore, an energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDS) enables elemental analysis.
