The library of the Research Station is a reference library with a collection focus on Quaternary Palaeontology.

Tuesday and Thursday 10.00 - 12.00
Please register by telephone or in writing because we only have a limited number of workplaces for visitors

Using the library (for external visitors) 

Our library is a scientific reference library with the main collection dedicated to Quaternary Palaeontology. In exceptional cases it is possible to make copies (max. 20 pages, 0,10 € per page). It is only possible to borrow books out of our stock via Thüringische Universitäts- und Landesbibliothek Jena , which you can find in the catalogue of the ThULB Jena as well (about 350 volumes, inter-library loans also possible).

For requests concerning the series Quartärpaläontologie, please contact the head of library.

Responsibilities

 
  • Managing and administration of the library stock (approximately 20,000 books, reprints, journals, and maps)
  • Acquisation of literature on demand of the sections
  • Senckenberg e-journals licence management (consortia)
  • Lending and borrowing of library stock (inter-library loans)
  • Maintaining the Research Station’s web-site
  • Keeping the press archive
  • Cover for administrative duties
