Research in the section is focused on taxonomy, systematics, morphology and zoogeography of Polychaeta , especially on Aphroditoidea , Glyceridae , Magelonidae a nd Serpulidae . The Mediterranean Sea, the Arabian Peninsula, the South China Sea and the South Atlantic are currently geographic areas of main interest. During the past ten years the section has participated in a number of national and international research projects in various geographic areas:
