During my two short-term visits at the Senckenberg Research Institute in Wilhelmshaven I am dealing with the study of the diversity of copepods (Arthropoda, Crustacea) from deep-sea hydrothermal vents of the western Pacific (New Ireland Fore-Arc system, Papua New Guinea) and the Mid-Atlantic ridge (Logachev site, and 2 sites discovered recently at 5ºS). The material was collected during German cruises conducted during the last years. Three papers on copepods from these samples are in preparation now.
The first 3-month trip (1/2005-3/2005) was supported by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft. The second 5-week trip (1/2006-2/2006) was supported by the Census of Diversity of Abyssal Marine Life CeDAMar.
