Research interests:
Two first visits for about 1,5 month each (the end of 2005 and early 2006) were devoted to studies of the benthopelagic calanoid copepods collected during the German ANDEEP I-III expeditions in 2002 and 2005 on board of RV Polarstern in the Southern Ocean. In collaboration with Dr. Knud Schulz plenty of new calanoid taxa were found from bathyal and abyssal depths, as well as some calanoids were recorded for the first time from Antarctica. Three MS with descriptions of a new genus and 6 new species are submitted during 2006. Several MS are under preparation. Two first above mentioned trips and one week of the third visit (October-November 2006) were funded by DFG. The rest of the third visit is funded by the Census of Diversity of Abyssal Marine Life CeDAMar and is the following stage of research of the antarctic benthopelagic calanoids from ANDEEP I-III and the start to the study of the near bottom calanoids from the Atlantic collected in RV Meteor cruises.
Dates of my stay at the DZMB:

second visit – Ferbuary 19 – March 29, 2006
third visit – October 25 – December 3, 2006
