Molluscs are among nature’s greatest innovators, representing some of the most ancient and evolutionary successful animal radiations, with tremendous diversity in morphology, behavior, and lifestyle. What molecular mechanisms and driving forces produce such great adaptability and diversity? How are novel genes and functions generated, and how do different reproductive strategies and selection affect genetic diversity (genomic heterozygosity), adaptations, and population genomics? These questions fascinate me, and I look forward to finding answers from the Book of Life by ATGC.
