Scientific Coordination

Senckenberg’s Scientific Coordination Department (Wiko) is a central support service responsible for the exchange of knowledge and information between staff, sites and institutes, as well as for communication with funding bodies, scientific organisations and science policymakers.

Wiko supports the strategic and structural development of Senckenberg’s programmes and research areas and is the central body for knowledge transfer in line with Leibniz’s guiding principle of ‘Theoria cum praxi’. In addition, Wiko supports Senckenberg’s researchers in building internal networks. It is also responsible for providing organisational support to the bodies and committees of the Senckenberg Society, including the Scientific Advisory Board and the Scientific Committee.

Furthermore, Wiko advises and supports researchers in initiating and drafting applications for third-party funding at both national and EU level, offers training and coaching for early-career researchers, builds up the alumni network, and organises scientific events and conferences.
Its responsibilities also include maintaining and further developing the reporting databases, preparing scientific reports for funding bodies, and organising regular internal and external evaluations.

You will find the staff of the Office in rooms 1.14 and 1.20–1.24 of the Maria-Sibylla-Merian-Haus, Georg-Voigt-Straße 14–16, 60325 Frankfurt am Main.
