LTER site: Rhine-Main-Observatory

SGN

The Rhine-Main-Observatory (RMO) is a Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) site located in central Germany. It covers the entire watershed of the River Kinzig (1058 km²).

In the RMO we examine long-term effects of habitat fragmentation, land-use and climate change, as well as other environmental variables on animal and plant communities. Particularly, we focus on stream, floodplain and urban ecosystems that are underrepresented in existing long-term monitoring.
