As part of the Saxon-Czech Interreg project, knowledge about the common cultural landscape and
the associated artisanal and industrial heritage in the district of Görlitz as well as in the district of
Česká Lípa is to be deepened in the years 2024 to 2026. As lead partner, Geopark Ralsko works
closely with the Senckenberg Society for Nature Research, represented by Senckenberg Museum of
Natural History Görlitz (project partner). Natural conditions influence various regional cultures, which
are reflected in industry, settlement structure, architecture, crafts, art, customs and traditions. Using
selected natural raw materials from the areas of stone and water, this interplay of natural resources
and their use by humans will be investigated.
The aim of the project is to develop an innovative approach to the preservation of the cultural
heritage of the border region, focusing on the digitization of data and the use of modern
technologies for the presentation of research results for professional and public relations. The aim is
not only to deepen cooperation, but also to create a common platform for the popularization of
scientific findings – a virtual museum. This brings together old and new data, makes it generally
available and invites you to rediscover the natural and cultural heritage of the border region. The
project is funded with funds from the EU budget with €550,565.70 (total) – SGN – €301,068.94.
