Forschungsinteressen

Die Forschungsinteressen sind vielfältig, sie reichen von allgemeiner Wirbeltierpaläobiologie und Paläoanthropologie bis nahezu allen Bereichen der Knochen-, und Zahnanalyse. 2001 wurde ein „virtuelles imaging Labor“ für 3D-Digitalisierung, Bearbeitung, Rekonstruktion und Morphometrie von Wirbeltier Knochen und Zähnen ins Leben gerufen.
Die Struktur und Funktion von Zähnen, mit dem Augenmerk auf evolutionäre Entwicklung, Ernährung und kulturelle Anpassungen des Verdauungssystems liegen im Fokus der Forschung.
Einige der nationalen und internationalen Forschungsprojekte gefördert durch die DFG (zB DFG-FOR771) und der EU (EU-MRTN-CT-2005-019564) haben zur Entwicklung der bekannten Occlusal Fingerprint Analysis (OFA) geführt.
