We investigate how entomological knowledge from literature, archival materials, and collection data can be analyzed and integrated across time periods, contexts, and actors.

A key focus is the analysis of historical texts, particularly through text mining, which enables the systematic analysis of large collections of source materials.

We also explore how people, places, and knowledge resources can be connected and what patterns emerge from these relationships. Our work combines methodological development with research on the organization and use of knowledge infrastructures.

We preserve, develop, and provide access to key entomological resources as research infrastructure.

The entomological library at SDEI holds both historical and current literature and is one of the leading entomological libraries in its field. Its collections date back to the nineteenth century and include rare original works as well as unique holdings built through international research collaborations.

The archive complements these collections with the personal papers of entomologists, documents on the history of the institute, and a collection of portraits and objects.

We provide access to specialized entomological resources and support scientific research.

Our services include library and archival collections, as well as specialized information resources and databases for entomology. They also include the biographical documentation of researchers.

The Information and Expert Services support scientific research through specialist literature searches, the provision of literature and data, and by connecting researchers with relevant experts and expertise.
