We make entomological knowledge accessible from literature, archives, and collections to support new research.
A key focus of our work is the analysis of historical literature and archival materials using data-driven methods. This includes text mining, which enables the systematic analysis of large collections of text. We also develop interconnected data structures such as knowledge graphs, in which people—including taxonomic experts—and species form the core of a semantically linked knowledge network.
The close integration of the library, archives, and collection data creates new opportunities to explore scientific networks, trace historical developments, and advance biodiversity research.
The Information Center for Entomology adds a knowledge- and data-driven perspective to research at SDEI, strengthening the link between research and research infrastructure.
