In the research group Ecology & Evolution of Bryophytes, future work will focus on ecological, phylogenetic and microevolutionary research questions. In addition, the cryptogam collection of the Herbarium Haussknecht will be further developed and its scientific use strengthened, in particular with regard to the role of bryophytes in ecosystem functions and as indicators in the context of biodiversity change in the Anthropocene.
The professorship has been held by Julia Bechteler since September 1, 2025.
