Functional Biodiversity Research

Waldboden

The department Functional Biodiversity investigates the effects of land use and climate change on the biodiversity and characteristics of plant species on different spatial and temporal scales. A particular focus is on research into the inter- and intraspecific variability of phenology and functional traits in herbaceous species.

As part of Senckenberg projects, we are currently researching the changes in the Mongolian plains and the effects of frost resistance on the phenology and distribution of plant species.
The cooperating working group is located at the Institute of Ecology and Evolution at the Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena.
