The International Exchange of Publications Service is peripherally organized which means that each Senckenberg location in Dresden, Frankfurt/M., Görlitz and Müncheberg offers publications out of their scientific series and books. Senckenberg provides the opportunity for universities, research institutes, libraries, and publishers to exchange series and books with geological/paleontological and biological content. Senckenberg Frankfurt exchanges publications worldwide with around 1,050 partners in 87 countries. The International Publication Exchange is part of the Publishing Division.
With respect to content, the acquired publications cover Senckenberg-relevant research areas. The majority of the exchange items received are available to users of the Frankfurt University Library. Journals, series and books given to the University Library are an important contribution to the Specialised Information Service Biodiversity Research (BIOfid), which is managed by the University Library.
A further portion of the exchange publications is made available to the departmental libraries of the Frankfurt Institute (including Weimar and Wilhelmshaven) that are not open to the public.
The exchange of publications promotes cooperation for mutual benefit, both in terms of content and finance.
