Synthesis and Solutions Labs

The Synthesis and Solutions Labs are a platform that is being set up in close cooperation with the Institute for Social-Ecological Research (ISOE) as part of the special program “Anthropocene Biodiversity Loss”.

The aim of the platform is to process existing knowledge on a wide range of topics relating to the protection of biodiversity and to develop options for action that promote biodiversity in a sustainable and socially just way. The establishment of the Synthesis and Solutions Labs will strengthen transdisciplinary research at Senckenberg and form new strategic alliances with social stakeholders.

The labs themselves are designed as innovative, transdisciplinary think tanks that work nationally or internationally. Based on existing research projects, they bring together data and knowledge and work together with social and political actors to develop options for action to promote biodiversity.

The Synthesis and Solutions Labs platform accompanies the labs in their interaction with society and offers support in communicating and communicating results. In cooperation with ISOE, workshops and training sessions are also held to impart transdisciplinary skills.
The next call for proposals for a new cohort of labs will open in June 2025.
