MALI AND BURKINA FASO cover a considerable part of West Africa and include three major African vegetation zones: the Saharan, Sahelian and Soudanian region. The Flora presented covers the entire diversity of ferns, fern allies and flowering plants of both countries, altogether 2631 species (2115 in Burkina Faso, 1952 in Mali, 1453 of them shared).
For each species, a brief description of morphology, information on ecology and a distribution map are given, accompanied by line drawings of important characters for each species and color photographs for over 760 species. Further included are identification keys to families, genera and species as well as an introductory part on vegetation and human impact.
