Curriculum Vitae
Alexey V. Golikov Dr.
Postdoc, PI of the DFG Project
Dr. Alexey V. Golikov studies cephalopods, and is especially interested in the Arctic and North Atlantic ones. He did the Diploma in Kazan Federal University (2011) and defended his PhD in Moscow State University (2015). Since 2013 to 2022 he worked in Kazan University, progressing his career from part-time Lecturer to Associate Professor (appointed 2018). In 2022–2024 he worked in GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel with the Marie-Curie Fellowship, project titled ‘Tracking impacts of climate change in the Arctic marine ecosystems through cephalopod diversity and life histories’. Currently he is the PI of two projects, ‘Cephalopods as a proxy to assess climate-driven changes and mercury pollution impacts on polar marine food webs: a retrospective approach for the last 180 years’ funded by the FCT in the University of Coimbra, Portugal, and ‘Tracking through space and time: deep-sea cephalopods in the Arctic and North Atlantic, from individuals to communities, facing climate change and chemical pollution’ funded by the DFG in the AG Benthische Biogeographie, Senckenberg/University of Hamburg. Both projects assess how Arctic (the former also Antarctic) ecosystems react to climate change and anthropogenic impacts, using cephalopods as proxies.
Other interests of Alexey include application of trophic markers and pollutants’ analyses (such as bulk and compound-specific stable isotope and mercury analyses) to retrospective and contemporary samples, which falls into the scope of an arising field of retrospective ecology. Non-surprisingly, cephalopods prove the good taxon to apply these methods to, and polar and deep-sea areas prove interesting where to do so.
