Curriculum Vitae

Zhehao is a student at the University of Hamburg, he began his deep-sea journey with the munnopsid isopods, a benthic swimmer with many mysteries. Since an expedition to the South Sandwich Islands in early 2025, he started his collaboration with Ocean Census as a growing isopodologist (=isopod taxonomist), which has led to discovery and description of new species. Currently he’s focusing on his master thesis leveraging integrative taxonomy to compare biogeography of two isopod groups with distinct locomotion styles.

Zhehao’s personal interest also lies on eco-evolutionary dynamics of the ocean benthos, especially the complex interaction among species and their environment. He integrates his statistical and bioinformatic interest and expertise to his work, bridging
