Collection

The oribatid mite collection includes 1,078 species with about 90,000 determined individuals, mainly originating from Europe. 406 Holo- and paratypes of 269 species have been deposited in the  collection  by S.G. Ermilov,  M. Moritz, L. Beck, G. Weigmann, G. Krisper, L. Miko, R. Schuster, T. Schwalbe, J. Stary, T. Pfingstl, E.A.  Hugo-Coetzee and B. Bayartogtokh.
The main part of the collection is stored in glycerin (70,000 individuals). About 20,000 individuals stored in ethanol were mainly transferred to Görlitz from the Josef Stary collection.
