Geology and Palaeontology

Project GECON

The GECON project serves to establish and design a network in the Euroregion Neisse and beyond. The name “GECON” is derived from the English GEological COoperation Network. The network enables increased cooperation and exchange of experience between institutions in the field of geology and contributes to the protection of geologically valuable sites in the Neisse Euroregion.

It is intended to be an informal platform of institutions combining the common interest in the exploration, protection and popularization of the geological natural wealth of the Bohemian-Lower Silesian-Saxon borderland. The project is aimed at organisations or individuals who are also interested in the geological wealth.

The creation or expansion of a geoscientific network is a prerequisite for the establishment of a planned tri-national Geopark Neißeland. The creation of the scientific basis is what we want to work on in this project.

Cooperation partners in the project are the Geopark Ralsko, the Technical University Liberec and the Senckenberg Museum of Natural History in Görlitz.
