Mite-Colloquium

Background

During the 3rd EURAAC congress in July 1996 in Amsterdam, the German participants discussed whether the organization of a workshop would be beneficial for acarological research in the german-speaking countries. Many of the colleagues supported the suggestion in an inquiry in December 1996. On this basis we organized the first german-language Mite-Colloquium. Since then, this colloquium offers possibilities for the communication of all parts of acarology, from systematic – taxonomical research, investigations of ecology, parasitology, medicine and veterinary medicine, to research in soil zoology or plant protection. Furthermore, the colloquium promotes contact between work groups. A further point is the discussion of the newest scientific knowledge as well as the exchange of ideas in planned or present research projects and their first results, especially from young scientists
