Exploring habitats, animals, and plants, marveling at nature, appreciating it—that’s Senckenberg. Founded in 1817 by committed citizens of Frankfurt, the Senckenberg Society for Nature Research is now one of the most important research institutions for biological diversity worldwide.
Would you like to make someone happy and give them a membership as a Christmas gift? Please fill out the membership application form by December 15 to ensure that you receive all the necessary documents in good time.
At the Senckenberg Nature Museums, visitors of all ages can discover the world of animals, dive deep into marine worlds, or marvel at giant dinosaurs. Our museums make science and research accessible and tangible. They are increasingly becoming platforms for exchange and discussion of current challenges affecting our ecological environment. How can we develop our urban nature? Can an ecosystem collapse due to the extinction of a species? What important information do amber and fossilized raindrops hold for us? As a member, you can experience Senckenberg up close and gain insights into the systemic understanding of nature and the world of modern natural history.
Members are the first to hear the latest news, get a glimpse behind the scenes, ask our scientists questions, and win prizes in raffles. They are always in good company, because Senckenberg brings together people interested in science, amateur scientists, and professionals.
Starting in 2026, Senckenberg Society for Nature Research membership cards will be converted to permanent membership cards made from recycled PVC. These new cards will be sent to all members in January and will remain valid for the duration of their membership.
