SOIL ORGANISMS is an English-language, international journal that includes original papers and review articles covering all aspects of organismic soil biology. Manuscripts are blind peer-reviewed by at least two international experts within four weeks after submission.

SOIL ORGANISMS constitutes a forum for soil biodiversity researchers worldwide for the exchange of new information, discussion of concepts and discoveries in soil biology. The journal is published by the Senckenberg Nature Research Society (SNG) and is the successor of the Abhandlungen und Berichte des Naturkundemuseums Görlitz, which was founded in 1827. Articles are made available per PDF File (Open Access) shortly after acceptance.

Description: SOIL ORGANISMS presents high-level research results, review papers, and a number of other formats in English covering the complete field of soil biology, including taxonomy and systematics, soil ecology (including interactions), biogeography, morphology, conservation, evolution, and ecosystem functions. Unique among soil-biological journals, SOIL ORGANISMS especially considers the organismic aspects of soil biology.

Open Access: SOIL ORGANISMS is committed to fair open-access publishing. All articles are available online without any publication fees. Articles published from September 2024 onward are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license. Articles published before August 2024 are available under previous terms, allowing non-commercial, private, and scientific use.

Peer Review: Double-blind peer reviewed.
