An international journal of malacology, edited by the Senckenberg–Leibniz Institution for Biodiversity and Earth System Research (SGN), Frankfurt/M.
NEWS FLASH! On the occasion of our 150th volume, we are encouraging more submissions with 3 initiatives to make the journal more open access.
1) Articles will become free to download after 4 years. Already, almost all articles published 2006–2017 are available for free.
2) Authors may now pay to make an article open access immediately upon publication (price for up to 30 printed pages = €1500).
3) Additionally, one article per issue will be free to download until the next issue appears.
A recent editorial summarises the journal’s worldwide scope and the new access arrangments: https://doi.org/10.1127/arch.moll/150/175-176.
Archiv für Molluskenkunde mainly publishes papers on the systematics, taxonomy, phylogeny, and morphology of molluscs. Contributions on fossil Cenozoic molluscs and on molluscan ecology, biogeography, and behaviour are also welcome. However, articles on physiology, parasitology, non-Cenozoic fossils or biostratigraphy should be submitted elsewhere. We do not publish minor faunistic notes, but will consider more substantial faunistic work, for instance discoveries of general significance from poorly known regions or comprehensive well-illustrated reviews that would facilitate future research. We will consider manuscripts dealing with historical issues (e.g. biographies, bibliographies, but not contemporary obituaries) if these have relevance for taxonomic research.

Archiv für Molluskenkunde is an international peer-reviewed journal with articles in English. It is published in two issues per year (= one volume), appearing in the second and fourth quarter, containing up to 300 pages per year.
Normally there are no page charges; illustrations are printed in colour when this is judged of benefit, also without charge. On acceptance of a manuscript, authors must sign a granting of usage rights. In return, the corresponding author will be provided with a pdf of the published article for personal use only and 25 reprints free of charge. Articles remain behind a paywall for 4 years and then become downloadable for free.
Alternatively, authors may pay to make their article open access under a CC-BY-SA license (€1500 for up to 30 printed pages).
Manuscripts must be prepared in acordance with the Instructions for Authors and should be submitted digitally to the editors.
