Palaeobiology

The research field of paleobiology is highly diverse. In general, we are analysing the ecological relationships between organisms and their environment. Based on such relationships we conclude on the behavior of animals on one hand and specific features of the environment on the other.

Paleoecological analyses may rely on any group of animals or plants. Our group, however, particularly examines large mammals. In this way we reconstruct habitats of humans in the Pleistocene providing us with insights in their ways of living and the spectrum of resources they utilised.
