Thesis: „Simulating hominin subsistence in Pleistocene Asia“
PhD Student at Lat Europe
My work is focused on the subsistence behavior and mobility pattern of early hominins. I want to apply agent-based modelling to test if grasslands played an important role in the dispersal of Homo erectus into Asia during the Pleistocene. This hypothesis is summarized in the term „Savannastan“, which refers to the dispersal of large herbivores and H. erectus using the expanding savanna as a corridor to spread into Asia. Modelling the subsistence behavior of H. erectus will allow us to test if and how they were able to benefit from a grassland environment.
