Abteilung

Die SDEI Abt. Systematik und Biogeographie verbindet Wissenschaftler*innen der Fachrichtung Entomologie, Biogeographie, Ökologie und Molekulargenetik in ihrer Forschung. Die Forscher*innen vernetzen sich ebenso mit den Spezialist*innen innerhalb Senckenbergs sowie national und international.

Die Forschungsschwerpunkte des SDEI liegen in der phylogenetischen Systematik, dass heißt in der stammesgeschichtlichen Untersuchung und Einordnung der Arten in die großen Insektenordnungen Hymenoptera (Hautflügler), Diptera (Zweiflügler), Coleoptera (Käfer), Hemimetabola und Lepidoptera (Schmetterlinge). Ergänzt wird es durch die Schwerpunkte Biogeographie und Ökologie sowie dem Molekularlabor.
