Ulf Linnemann studierte Geologie an der TU Bergakademie Freiberg. Er ist promovierter und habilitierter Geowissenschaftler auf den Gebieten der Geochronologie, Sedimentologie und der Feldgeologie. Ulf Linnemann war an den Universitäten in Freiberg, Dresden und Jena tätig und ist heute Abteilungsleiter des Museums für Mineralogie und Geologie sowie Leiter der Sektion Geochronologie. Schwerpunkte der Forschung bilden derzeit U-Pb-Altersbestimmungen an Zirkon von diversen Gesteinen und Herkunftsanalysen von Sedimenten des Superkontinents Gondwana. Als Professor für Geologie und Plattentektonik lehrt er an der TU Dresden.

Frau Dr. Mandy Zieger-Hofmann hat an der TU Dresden Physische Geographie und Geologie studiert und dieses 2007 mit ihrer Diplomarbeit zum Thema „Geochronologie, Tektonik und junge Hebung im Durchkreuzungsbereich von Westlausitzer Störung und Lausitzer Überschiebung“ erfolgreich abgeschlossen. Nach einem zweijährigen Volontariat bei den Staatlichen Naturhistorischen Sammlungen Dresden, Sektion Paläozoologie, übernahm Frau Zieger-Hofmann 2009 die Stelle einer TA in der neu gegründeten Sektion Geochronologie der Senckenberg Naturhistorischen Sammlungen Dresden. Frau Zieger-Hofmann promovierte auf dem Gebiet der Geochronologie und Sedimentologie (Dissertationsthema „Neoproterozoic glaciations of southern Namibia (Kalahari Craton) – Characteristicts, geotectonic setting, provenance and geochronological correlation“) und ist aktuell die Laborleiterin der Sektion Geochronologie. Frau Zieger-Hofmann beschäftigt sich hauptsächlich mit der Datierung verschiedener Minerale mittels LA-ICP-MS und deren Interpretationen hinsichtlich geotektonischer Rahmenbedingungen, Sedimentprovenance und zeitlicher Abfolgen.
