Langzeit-Ökosystemdynamik


Die systematische Erfassung der überwiegend anthropogen bedingten rasanten Veränderungen von Biodiversität und Ökosystemen der vergangenen Dekaden ist vielfach unzureichend dokumentiert bzw. auf wenige charismatische Artengruppen beschränkt.

Dies gilt erst recht für die Verbindung von biotischen und abiotischen Trends. Im Tätigkeitsschwerpunkt „Langzeit-Ökosystemdynamik“ betreibt Senckenberg drei international im „Long-Term Ecological Research“ (LTER) Netzwerk verankerte Observatorien in marinen, limnischen und terrestrischen Ökosystemen (Nordsee-Benthos-Observatorium, Stadtbiotopkartierung Frankfurt, Rhein-Main-Observatorium). Dort werden systematisch Langzeit-Biodiversitäts- und Umweltdaten (über ca. 10-100 Jahre) generiert und ausgewertet.

Senckenberg ist national wie international ein bedeutender Player im LTER-Netzwerk und ist zudem aktiv in GEO BON (Group on Earth Observation Biodiversity Observation Network). Außerdem wurde eLTER (europäisches LTER Konsortium) auf die Europäische Infrastruktur-Roadmap (ESFRI) aufgenommen, so dass nun auch die SGN-LTER-Gebiete Teil der europäischen Infrastruktur sind.

Darüber hinaus nutzen wir unsere langjährige Expertise in der Auswertung von Langzeit-Daten in zahlreichen nationalen und internationalen Kooperationen, die weit über die Daten der eigenen Observatorien hinausgehen und auch Veränderungen auf funktionaler Ebene beinhalten.
