SOIL ORGANISMS is an English-language, international journal that includes original papers and review articles covering all aspects of organismic soil biology. Manuscripts are blind peer-reviewed by at least two international experts within four weeks after submission.

SOIL ORGANISMS constitutes a forum for soil biodiversity researchers worldwide for the exchange of new information, discussion of concepts and discoveries in soil biology. The journal is published by the Senckenberg Nature Research Society (SNG) and is the successor of the Abhandlungen und Berichte des Naturkundemuseums Görlitz, which was founded in 1827. Articles are made available per PDF File (Open Access) shortly after acceptance.

Aims and Scope

SOIL ORGANISMS presents high-level research results, review papers and short notes covering the complete field of soil biology, including taxonomy and systematics, soil ecology, biogeography, morphology, conservation and evolution with a special focus on soil animals. Unique among soil-biological journals, Soil Organisms especially considers the organismic aspects of soil biology, stressing the species level even in community-ecological research.

All contributions are in English. All submitted articles are reviewed in a blind reviewing process by at least two international referees prior to publication.
